Fees and insurance
Fees and insurance, printed in full
One fee for each kind of session, the dates it applies, and what out of network means for you.
AI-generated illustration. Not a real office.
The fee for each kind of session
One fee for each kind of session, the same for every clinician here: you choose a clinician for the fit, not for the price.
| Session | Length | Fee | Twelve weekly sessions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free call, by telephone or video | fifteen minutes | No charge | — |
| Individual session | fifty minutes | $195 | $2,340 |
| Couples session | fifty minutes | $240 | $2,880 |
| Family session | fifty minutes | $240 | $2,880 |
| Session for a teenager | fifty minutes | $195 | $2,340 |
These fees apply from October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027. Paid at or after each session: card, cash, check, or an HSA or FSA card. One fee however you pay.
No card on this website. Nothing is paid on this website. The call is free, and a session is paid at or after it, by card, cash, check or an HSA or FSA card, through the practice — never online here.
What an estimate looks like
Every session booked here comes with a written Good Faith Estimate in the confirmation: the fee for each session and what twelve weekly sessions would come to. The law gives a practice one to three business days to send one (45 CFR 149.610); this one sends it with the confirmation.
What an estimate says: an individual first session
- Each session, 50 minutesCPT 90834$195
- Weekly sessions the estimate coversthe first and the next eleven12
- Estimated totalif every week goes ahead$2,340
An individual first session: $195 a session, and twelve weekly sessions would come to $2,340. That is the figure the estimate prints; you pay session by session, never in advance.
Your right to an estimate. You have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" of what your care will cost if you don't have insurance or aren't using it. Ask us for one when you schedule, or any time before your session. If your bill is $400 or more above your estimate, you can dispute it. Learn more at cms.gov/nosurprises.
Federal law also protects you from surprise bills for emergency care, and from out-of-network bills for care at an in-network hospital or center. Those rules don't usually reach a private office practice like this one, which bills only you, at the fee printed here; the federal notice and the complaint contacts are at cms.gov/nosurprises.
If you cancel or miss a session
When a late cancellation is charged, the charge is the session's fee: individual session, $195, couples session, $240, family session, $240 and session for a teenager, $195.
- Cancel or move a session at least twenty-four hours ahead, from the link in your confirmation or by calling, and there is nothing to pay.
- Cancel with less than twenty-four hours' notice, or miss a session, and the session's fee is charged, because the hour was kept for you and nobody else could have it.
- The first late cancellation or missed session in any twelve months is waived, with no reason needed.
- If the practice has to cancel, you never pay anything for that session.
- A late fee is never sent to your insurance, and a free call is never charged, however it is missed.
Insurance, said plainly
Out of network. We don't participate in any health insurance networks. If your plan has out-of-network mental health benefits, we can give you a monthly statement (a "superbill") to send in. Whether and how much your plan reimburses is between you and your plan; ask them before you start. If you're using out-of-network benefits, the amount we'll charge is available on request before your first session, and we'll give it to you in writing (Public Health Law § 24).
You do not need to know your plan's rules to book. You do need to ask your plan some questions before you start, because only your plan can say what it reimburses. The article below lists them.
What a superbill is, and what it is not
A monthly statement with the dates, the fees and the codes your insurer asks for. What comes back depends entirely on your plan's out-of-network benefits, its deductible and its allowed amount; your insurer can tell you before you start, and the article on out-of-network benefits lists the questions to ask.
A superbill is a statement. It is not a claim we send for you, it does not make this practice part of your plan, and it does not promise you any money back. The codes on it depend on the kind of session:
Individual session
Procedure code 90834: psychotherapy, about 45 minutes (38 to 52).
Couples session
Procedure code 90847: family or couples psychotherapy with the client present.
Family session
Procedure code 90847: family or couples psychotherapy with the client present.
Session for a teenager
Procedure code 90834: psychotherapy, about 45 minutes (38 to 52).
If you send our statement to your insurer for out-of-network reimbursement, the insurer sees the dates, the fee and the codes on it. That is your choice, and it does not waive anything else (CPLR 4508).
Out-of-network amounts, in writing
If you're using out-of-network benefits, the amount we'll charge is available on request before your first session, and we'll give it to you in writing (Public Health Law § 24).
If the fee is a barrier
If the fee is a barrier. A limited number of reduced-fee places are available by arrangement. Ask on your free call; nobody is asked to prove anything to request one.
