About Maricel
Teenagers and families. Sessions in English and Tagalog.
Maricel works with teenagers and their families, in English and Tagalog, and keeps after-school hours for them.
With teenagers she is practical: skills for strong feelings, ways to manage school stress, and a private hour that is theirs.
She meets a parent or guardian at the start, explains together with the teenager what stays private and what can't, and sees the family together when it helps.
The license line. Licensed clinical social worker — on a real practice's site. This clinician is invented and holds no license; a real clinician's New York license can be checked on the State Education Department's public verification page. Education Law § 7702 (opens the source in a new tab)

Support for
Identity and culture
For living between two cultures, two languages, or two sets of expectations.
How Maricel works
In plain words, because a method's name tells you less than what happens in the room.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
Noticing the thoughts and habits that keep a problem going, and practicing different ones.
Skills for strong emotions
Practical ways to ride out distress and steady yourself.
Family systems work
Seeing a problem in the pattern between people, not inside one of them.
Sessions and what they cost
One fee for each kind of session, the same for every clinician here: you choose a clinician for the fit, not for the price.
Maricel offers teen, family and individual sessions, in person on office days and by video on video days.
- Therapy for teenagers $195 · fifty minutes
- Family therapy $240 · fifty minutes
- Individual therapy $195 · fifty minutes
Fees and insurance The Good Faith Estimate
Out of network. We don't participate in any health insurance networks. If your plan has out-of-network mental health benefits, we can give you a monthly statement (a "superbill") to send in. Whether and how much your plan reimburses is between you and your plan; ask them before you start. If you're using out-of-network benefits, the amount we'll charge is available on request before your first session, and we'll give it to you in writing (Public Health Law § 24).
Teenagers, with a parent's consent. We see teenagers aged 13 to 17. A parent or legal guardian books the first session and consents to treatment, and usually joins part of it. What a teenager says in therapy stays private, with a few exceptions we explain to the family at the start, such as a risk of serious harm.
If you're a teenager reading this. A teenager can't book here on their own: in a private practice like this one, New York needs a parent's or guardian's consent for treatment. If you're a teenager and you need to talk to someone now, call or text 988 — it's free, it's confidential, and you don't need anybody's permission — or talk to your school counselor.

Office days and video days. Each clinician's day is either an office day, when every session is in person here, or a video day, when every session is by video. Choose in person or video and the calendar shows you the times that fit.
In New York State. Video sessions are for clients who are physically in New York State at the time of each session, because that is the state a New York license covers. If you're traveling outside New York, we may need to pause video sessions or meet in person when you're back.

Nothing clinical online. This form asks only for what an appointment needs: your name, how to reach you, who you'd like to see, what kind of session and when. It never asks why you're coming — that conversation is for your clinician, not for a website — and nothing you type here is shared with an advertiser, a tracker or anyone outside the practice.

Book a free fifteen-minute call to see whether we're a good fit. It's a conversation about what you're looking for and how we work, by telephone or video — not a therapy session, and there is nothing to pay for it.
Every session booked here comes with a written Good Faith Estimate in the confirmation: the fee for each session and what twelve weekly sessions would come to. The law gives a practice one to three business days to send one (45 CFR 149.610); this one sends it with the confirmation.

Woodside Psychotherapy is not an emergency service. Nobody watches the website, the voicemail or the e-mail inbox outside office hours, and a message left at night is read the next working day.
If you're in danger right now, call 911. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988 or chat at 988lifeline.org, 24 hours a day; veterans can call 988 and press 1. You can also text HOME to 741741.
